Thank you for your support for our ski-loving boys Lincoln and Cole!
This year we’ve rebranded to Team Ski-mophilia to reflect
our mountain loving boys that can’t get enough of skiing these days!
Lincoln and Cole have been through a lot over the years, from hundreds
of IV infusions, to emergency rooms and surgeries, to crutches and
ports, to missed birthday parties and days at home in bed. We are so
grateful to have better treatment options now that have really reduced
all of these things - they need to be rigorous about taking their
doses, be smart about activities, and still have tough days with
surprise injuries, but it’s not near as often.
This wouldn’t be possible without everything our healthcare team has
done from a medical perspective, and what the Colorado Chapter has
done from a well-being perspective! Through education, community
building, and advocacy, both boys have learned to successfully
self-infuse which allows us to do all this treatment at home as well
as venture away from home. Often these days we'll walk into
the kitchen and one of the boys will be infusing themselves with their
medication without any help - a little surprising but also gives them
(and us!) the confidence that they can take care of themselves without
us being right there. Each year the mentoring and practice at Bleeding
Disorders camp has fostered those skills and their independence, and
that’s what brings us to fundraising today.
