Hey everybody!

I'm so proud to be a part of the New York City Hemophilia Walk for the 19th year and I'm so happy to be doing it with all of you.  As you may know, me and my family have been in it since the beginning in 2006. When I was born, my parents felt like most new hemophilia parents do. Scared. Worried. Confused. Alone. They needed someone to talk to, someone to tell them what to expect, someone to tell them it would be okay. That option wasn't really available to them. So because they couldn't join a community of people like them, they did what everybody else does: They created one.

Over the past 19 years, I have grown up around of community of people built to help support one another. NYCHC has given me and other hemophiliacs the ability to connect with people who go through the same things as them, and helps them get through the day to day of living with the disorder. The reality is, with all of your support, I'm able to strive and be as successful (if not more successful) than my peers. This chapter and the walk itself serves to educate people on what is means to have hemophilia and help the friends and families of patients to better understand what it means to be close with someone with the disorder.
